Thinking of You


After purchasing a few top-up craft supplies I was inspired to use the cute little 'Thinking of You' banner from my Little Birdie embellishments. 

I first blended Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick and Dusty Concord Ranger Distress Inks together to get a soft marbled background. Next I die cut out a floral motif on the top left of the panel. Afterwards I ran the die cut panel through my Spellbinders Platinum 6 using a Ultimate Crafts embossing folder to add even more texture and dimension to the card panel.




I then placed foam adhesive to the back of the panel. Now I have to say I used a lot of tiny pieces of foam. It was tedious and mind-numbing. I don't think I'll be doing this again anytime soon.
Then, after what felt like hours of foam application, I mounted this panel onto a piece of Rosie's Studio Black Pearlised cardstock.


I added in my 'Thinking of You' banner to the bottom left of the panel. To finish I used foam squares to stick this to the front of a 300gsm white card. I think it turned out great. Next time I would just stick the die cut panel to my black pearlised card flat. Aside from that I had fun making this simple card. Green Birthday Card

  OK so I haven't been feeling very inspired or creative this week. I thought I'd just muck about with some scraps I have and see what I get. Well It's not great! I ended up with a very green themed birthday card. Oh well, got to keep crafting right?? Here it is.... I started by using some scrap pieces of card that I had tried some foiling techniques on. I first used the one with a white background and stenciled over it with Ranger Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers. Next I die cut some dimensional flowers from the green foiled background. I pushed the petals upwards and create my flowers. Next I stuck a piece of white paper onto a green card for my background. Twist Pop-up

For today's card I wanted to try something I haven't done before. I've seen some really neat videos on twisting pop-up cards and I thought I'd give it a go. Now if you haven't tried these yet I will say be patient and try it with scraps first. I think I'll be looking into getting template dies for this style of card. First I cut all my basic elements for this card. I used 250gsm cardstock for every aspect. I cut the main body of the card and an identical card from light blue card as well. These will become the outside and inside of my finished card. Next I cut a long strip of card 5cm shorter than the total length of the card it's self. This strip is the twisting mechanism I will use for the card. Next I worked on the mechanism by first scoring three lines. One through the center of the strip (the longest length) and two at 45degree angles through the center point of the strip. Next I folded along all lines and then began constructing the mechanism.

Art Journal - Stop and smell the flowers

For this art journal entry I wanted to remind myself that it's important to take time and just relax. Have a coffee, watch a movie or go for a walk. What ever you do, remember to take a step back and enjoy the moment. We get so caught up in everyday routine that we forget there's a whole world out there. Sometimes I know I want to create an art journal entry, or a greeting card or something crafty but, nothing brings me joy, sparks inspiration or motivates me to do it. This is when I stop and take a step back. Go do something else and enjoy taking that time away. OK rant over let's get into it. First I used a combination of acrylic & water, mixed in a spritz bottle, to put my base green colour onto my page. Then couldn't find the inspiration to do anything with it. It's OK if this happens.
